Co-hosts Mexico continued their impressive FIFA World Cup campaign with a commanding 3-0 victory over Czechia, completing the group stage with a flawless record of three wins from three matches.

Second-half goals from Mateo Chávez, Julián Quiñones and Álvaro Fidalgo secured another convincing win for El Tri and confirmed their status as one of the standout teams of the tournament's opening phase.

The result ensured Mexico finished top of Group A with maximum points, while Czechia exited the competition after ending the group stage at the bottom of the standings.

With first place already secured before kickoff, Mexico made several changes to their starting lineup but still proved too strong for a Czech side that struggled to create meaningful opportunities.

The opening half lacked clear-cut chances despite an encouraging start from Czechia.

Denis Visinský came closest early on when he fired a shot narrowly wide, but opportunities were otherwise limited in a cagey contest.

Mexico dominated possession for long periods but appeared reluctant to shoot, often opting for an extra pass around the penalty area.

Their first notable attempt arrived after 36 minutes when Israel Reyes attempted an ambitious overhead kick from the edge of the box, but the effort drifted wide.

David Doudera and Julián Quiñones both tried their luck from distance before the interval, while Jorge Sánchez forced goalkeeper Matej Kovář into action as Mexico gradually increased the pressure.

The breakthrough finally arrived after halftime.

Having absorbed a brief spell of Czech pressure, Mexico struck decisively on the counterattack in the 53rd minute.

Luis Romo's intelligent play released Mateo Chávez, who calmly finished the move to give the hosts a deserved lead.

The goal transformed the contest.

Just six minutes later, Mexico doubled their advantage through Quiñones.

After Matej Kovář blocked the striker's initial effort, the rebound ricocheted off Jorge Sánchez and fell kindly for Quiñones, who converted from close range to make it 2-0.

With the result effectively secured, Mexico continued to control the game and showcased the depth of their squad.

One of the biggest moments of the evening came when veteran goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa entered the match from the bench.

The 40-year-old became one of the few players in football history to appear at four different FIFA World Cups, adding another remarkable chapter to his international career.

Mexico completed the scoring in stoppage time.

Kovář produced a fine save to deny Santiago Giménez, but Álvaro Fidalgo reacted quickest to the loose ball and fired home to seal an emphatic 3-0 victory.

The win underlines Mexico's growing confidence as they prepare for the knockout phase.

Three victories, a strong defensive record and consistent attacking performances have made El Tri one of the tournament's most impressive teams so far.

For Czechia, however, the defeat brought a disappointing end to their campaign.

Despite entering the tournament with hopes of reaching the knockout rounds, they were unable to find the consistency required to challenge the group's strongest sides and leave the competition at the group stage.

As the World Cup moves into the knockout rounds, Mexico will do so carrying momentum, confidence and the backing of home support, qualities that could make them a dangerous opponent for any team remaining in the tournament.
