Iran Urges Citizens to Cut Electricity Use After US Strikes Hit Energy Infrastructure

The Iranian government has appealed to citizens to reduce electricity consumption following US strikes on energy infrastructure in the country's south, warning that the attacks, combined with extreme weather conditions, have placed additional pressure on the national power grid.
In a statement issued on Friday, Iran's Ministry of Energy urged residents to conserve electricity, particularly during peak demand periods, to help maintain a stable supply across affected areas.
The ministry specifically advised households and businesses to switch off air conditioners during peak hours, saying the measure would ease pressure on the electricity network and improve power availability in southern provinces.
According to the ministry, the appeal became necessary because electricity supply facilities in the region have come under attack while high temperatures continue to drive up energy demand.
The government said reducing unnecessary electricity consumption would help stabilise the grid and minimise disruptions as authorities work to manage the impact of the attacks on critical infrastructure.
The latest advisory comes amid heightened tensions following US strikes on Iranian energy facilities, with authorities closely monitoring the country's electricity system as efforts continue to maintain power supply in the affected regions.
