A Chief Magistrate Court sitting in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, has sentenced two men to 30 days imprisonment after they were found wandering naked around parts of the state capital.
The convicts, identified as 49-year-old Adebiyi Olusola and 30-year-old Oguntola John, were arraigned before the court on a one-count charge of conduct likely to cause breach of peace, contrary to Section 181 (1) (d) and (h) of the Laws of Ekiti State of Nigeria, 2021.
The two men pleaded guilty to the charge when it was read to them in court. They were represented by their counsel, Ogunleye Abiola.
Delivering judgment, Magistrate Abayomi Adosun held that the prosecution had established the case beyond reasonable doubt, adding that the guilty plea of the defendants further supported the decision of the court.
The magistrate subsequently sentenced the two men to 30 days imprisonment without an option of fine.
Earlier, the police prosecutor, Akinwale Oriyomi, told the court that the offence was committed on July 13, 2026, at about 4:00 a.m. within the Palace Area of Ado-Ekiti, in the Ado-Ekiti Magisterial District.
According to the prosecutor, the defendants were seen wandering naked around the palace area and a public highway in a manner capable of disturbing public peace.
The court’s decision followed the defendants’ admission of guilt and the prosecution’s presentation of facts surrounding the incident.
The development has drawn attention to issues surrounding public conduct, community safety and enforcement of laws regulating behaviour capable of causing disturbance in public spaces.
