The family of former Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, has expressed profound gratitude to security agencies, government officials and Nigerians following the successful rescue of Mrs Olaide Adegoke John-Paul and her 12-year-old twin sons from their abductors.
The victims regained their freedom on Saturday night after a coordinated operation by operatives of the Nigeria Police Force, bringing an end to days of anxiety and uncertainty for the family.
Speaking to journalists at her residence in the Challenge area of Ibadan, Mrs Olufunmilayo Adelabu, mother of the former minister, described the rescue as a miracle and a moment of immense relief for the entire family. According to her, the news of the abduction initially left the family devastated, as they struggled with fears over the safety and wellbeing of their loved ones.
She recalled the emotional trauma and uncertainty that followed the incident, noting that no family ever wishes to experience such an ordeal.
“We are deeply grateful to God, the Nigeria Police Force, other security agencies, government officials and all Nigerians who stood with us through prayers, encouragement and support during this difficult period,” she said.

Mrs Adelabu said the safe return of her daughter and grandsons has renewed the family’s faith and appreciation for the sacrifices made daily by security personnel in protecting lives and property.
In an emotional reflection, she disclosed that barely a day before her daughter’s abduction, she had been praying for the safe release of victims kidnapped in Oriire Local Government Area, unaware that her own family would soon face a similar ordeal. The elderly matriarch said the experience has strengthened her empathy for families whose loved ones remain in captivity across different parts of the country.
While celebrating the rescue of her daughter and grandchildren, she urged Nigerians not to forget others who are still waiting for good news regarding abducted relatives.
“My prayers remain with the victims of the Oriire kidnapping incident and every family currently experiencing similar pain. May God grant them freedom and reunite them with their loved ones,” she said.
She further called for intensified efforts by security agencies and stakeholders to address insecurity and protect vulnerable communities from criminal elements.
The rescue has generated widespread reactions across Oyo State, with residents, community leaders and well-wishers expressing joy over the safe return of the victims.
The Adelabu family concluded by praying for lasting peace, improved security and a safer Nigeria where citizens can go about their daily activities without fear.
