
Yobe Police Arrest 14 Suspected Drug Dealers, Seize Hundreds of Illicit Drugs in Major Raid

The Yobe State Police Command has arrested 14 suspected drug dealers and recovered more than 300 sachets and packages of suspected illicit drugs during a coordinated operation targeting criminal hideouts in Jakusko Local Government Area.
The operation, conducted on Friday, July 11, formed part of the command's ongoing intelligence-led campaign against drug trafficking, substance abuse and other criminal activities across the state.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, the raid was led by the Area Commander, Gashua, and involved personnel from Bade 'A' Division, Bade 'B' Division, Area Command Gashua, Garin Alkali Division, Yusufari Division and Jakusko Division. Members of the Peace Group Vigilante also participated in the operation.
The security team stormed identified criminal hideouts and suspected drug joints at Buduwa Market in Jakusko, where the suspects were allegedly engaged in the sale, consumption and abuse of illicit substances.
The police identified those arrested as Hamisu Umar, 20; Usman Wakili, 25; Aliyu Mohammed, 20; Hassan Ali, 35; Dudduwa Dorsha, 27; Adamu Hussaini, 27; Sale Adamu, 27; Adamu Umaru, 25; Babaru Hassan, 28; Dangi Maikudi, 22; Hassan Audu, 29; Abubakar Usman, 29; Ahmadu Waziri, 23; and Daudu Yusuf, 20.
Items recovered during the operation included more than 300 sachets and packages of suspected Tramadol, Vega tablets, Indian hemp and other prohibited and controlled substances.
Police said investigations are ongoing and that the suspects are providing useful information to assist security operatives in identifying and arresting other members of the suspected criminal network.
The command added that the suspects will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
Reacting to the operation, the Commissioner of Police, Usman Kanfani Jibrin, directed Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers and Tactical Commanders across the state to intensify raids on identified criminal hideouts and blackspots.
He reaffirmed the command's zero-tolerance policy against drug trafficking and substance abuse, describing the menace as a major driver of violent crimes and other criminal activities.
The police also appealed to residents to continue supporting security agencies by providing credible and timely information to aid ongoing efforts to combat crime and enhance public safety across Yobe State.
