The Ogun State Police Command has arrested three suspects in connection with the murder of former Ogun State Television (OGTV) broadcaster, Mrs. Kitan Oyesiku, and her security guard, following what authorities described as a painstaking intelligence-led investigation.

The suspects were paraded on Thursday at the State Police Headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta, where the Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, disclosed that the principal suspect allegedly confessed that the attack was carried out to "teach her a lesson" over grievances relating to his remuneration while in her employment.

According to the police commissioner, the arrests followed intensive intelligence gathering, forensic analysis and technical tracking operations launched after the gruesome killings were discovered at Oyesiku's residence in Owode-Egba, Obafemi Owode Local Government Area.

Ojajuni recalled that police received a distress report on June 21, 2026 at about 4 p.m concerning suspicious circumstances at the deceased's residence.

He said preliminary findings revealed that the front door of the house had been partially damaged, while the security post within the compound was locked, prompting immediate police intervention.

A subsequent search led to the discovery of Oyesiku's body lying in a pool of blood inside her living room, while the corpse of her security guard, Pelumi Adetayo, 38 was found within the security house.

The police also discovered that the deceased's Lexus RX 330 SUV was missing from the premises, raising suspicions of robbery and murder.

"The Command immediately launched a comprehensive investigation involving intelligence gathering, technical tracking and forensic analysis aimed at identifying the perpetrators and recovering the stolen vehicle," Ojajuni said.

He disclosed that operatives successfully tracked and recovered the missing Lexus RX 330 on June 22, 2026.

Although the vehicle's ignition key had been removed and its registration number plates detached, detectives reportedly found the registration plate concealed beneath one of the seats, enabling investigators to positively identify it as belonging to the deceased.

The police commissioner further revealed that detectives recovered a handwritten note allegedly left behind by the attackers at the crime scene.

According to him, forensic examination and analysis of the note generated critical leads that helped investigators identify and trace the suspects.

The breakthrough led to the arrest of the principal suspect, 22-year-old Sodeinde Olajuwon Philip, on June 24 at a construction site in Ibara GRA, Abeokuta, where he was working as a labourer.

Further operations resulted in the arrest of two additional suspects identified as Sakirudeen Abdulraheem Ayoola 27, a security guard and Sobu Obafunsho 36, a bricklayer.

Ojajuni said all three suspects are believed to have directly participated in the criminal conspiracy and subsequent killings.

During interrogation, the principal suspect allegedly admitted his involvement in the crime and confessed to recruiting the two other suspects to assist in carrying out the attack.

"Because of her low salary and demanding money from the deceased from time to time, the suspect stated that the murder of Madam Olakitan Oyesiku and her security guard was intended to 'teach her a lesson'," the police commissioner said.

Police investigations indicate that the suspects allegedly struck on June 20, first overpowering the security guard and using him to gain access to the residence before attacking Oyesiku.

After allegedly committing the murders, the suspects reportedly fled with the deceased's Lexus RX 330, which was later recovered through intelligence-led operations in the Onikolobo area of Ogun State.

Ojajuni said further searches conducted at locations linked to the suspects led to the recovery of a broken hammer, a cutlass, a plank, a black pen and other items considered relevant to the investigation.

While noting that substantial evidence has been gathered, the police commissioner stressed that the suspects remain entitled to due process under the law.

He added that investigations are continuing to consolidate available evidence and identify any other persons connected to the crime.

"The Ogun State Police Command remains committed to ensuring that justice is served and that all persons connected with this heinous crime are brought to book," Ojajuni said.
