US President Donald Trump has said the United States is prepared to assist Venezuela following twin earthquakes that killed at least 32 people and injured more than 700 others, according to Venezuelan authorities.

The offer came as emergency responders continued search-and-rescue operations across affected areas after the powerful earthquakes caused widespread destruction, collapsed buildings and triggered panic among residents.

In a statement posted on his Truth Social platform late Wednesday, Trump expressed condolences to victims and pledged support for ongoing relief efforts.

"The two major earthquakes that just hit the great people of Venezuela are both massive in scale and have left a devastating number of deaths," Trump wrote.

"The U.S.A. stands ready, willing, and able to help. I have instructed all agencies of our government to get ready to move quickly. We will be there for our new and great friends. Early reports are not good."

The statement marks a significant expression of support from Washington as Venezuela grapples with one of its deadliest natural disasters in recent years.

Authorities said the twin earthquakes struck on Wednesday, causing severe damage in several communities and forcing thousands of residents to flee buildings as the ground shook.

Rescue teams have been working around the clock to locate survivors and assist those displaced by the disaster.
