Troops of the Joint Task Force North-East, Operation Hadin Kai, have arrested five suspected members of a kidnapping syndicate and recovered two AK-47 rifles, magazines and ammunition during an intelligence-led operation in Magumeri Local Government Area of Borno State.
The military disclosed that the operation was carried out following credible intelligence on the activities of criminal elements operating along a known corridor within the area.
According to a statement issued by Operation Hadin Kai, troops conducted a coordinated operation that led to the arrest of the suspects believed to be involved in kidnapping and related criminal activities targeting residents of communities in the state.
During the operation, security personnel recovered two AK-47 rifles along with magazines and ammunition, effectively disrupting the operational capability of the suspected criminal network.

Military authorities said preliminary investigations indicate that the suspects are linked to a series of kidnapping incidents and other criminal activities in parts of Borno State.
The suspects have since been taken into custody and are assisting investigators with information aimed at identifying and apprehending other members of the syndicate.
Operation Hadin Kai said efforts are ongoing to dismantle the group's support structures and prevent further attacks on communities within the area of operation.
The military described the operation as part of sustained efforts to combat terrorism, kidnapping and organised criminality across the North-East.
It noted that the arrest and recovery demonstrate the effectiveness of intelligence-driven operations and the commitment of security forces to protecting lives and property.
“The successful operation highlights the relentless commitment of the Nigerian Army to safeguarding lives and property while sustaining offensive actions against terrorists, kidnappers and other criminal elements threatening national security,” the statement said.
The military further reaffirmed its determination to continue operations aimed at restoring peace, security and stability across the country, particularly in areas affected by insurgency and criminal violence.
Operation Hadin Kai has intensified offensive and intelligence-based operations in recent months as part of broader efforts to deny criminal groups freedom of movement and dismantle their networks across the North-East region.
