Tinubu Appoints Fayose REA Chairman, Bindawa Salary Commission Chair; Names 24 Others to Federal Boards

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has announced the appointment of 26 Nigerians into key positions across 10 Federal Government agencies and commissions, with former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose appointed as Chairman of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA).

The appointments, announced by the Presidency on Monday, include new chairmen, directors-general, managing directors, executive secretaries and board members across strategic government institutions.

According to a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, all the appointments take immediate effect.

Fayose will lead the board of the Rural Electrification Agency alongside Alhaji Ahmadu Abubakar and Engineer Ilyasu Ibrahim Makinta, who were appointed as members and non-executive directors.

The agency’s serving Director-General, Abba Abubakar Aliyu, together with three previously appointed executive directors, will complete the REA board.

The President also appointed Major General Junaid Bindawa as Chairman of the National Salary, Incomes and Wages Commission.

Other appointments to the commission include former Lagos House of Representatives member Olajumoke Okoya-Thomas, who was named secretary.

The newly appointed commissioners include Dr Ogbole Ene Lilian, Oladele Olatubosun and Yakubu Umar Barde, representing Benue, Oyo and Kaduna states respectively.

Additional members appointed to the commission are Dr Mai Adamu Yau from Borno State, Ginika Florence Tor from Enugu State, Engineer Lawrence Okoh from Edo State and Bello Morenike Iyabode from Kogi State.

In another major appointment, Tosin Johnson Adeyanju, who was earlier named Executive Secretary of the National Lottery Trust Fund (NLTF), has been redeployed to serve as Secretary of the Revenue Mobilisation and Fiscal Commission.

President Tinubu also appointed Dr Abuh Mohammed as the new Director-General of the National Population Commission (NPC), while Dr Akinola Odeyemi was appointed Managing Director of the Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading Plc (NBET).

Similarly, Dr Anthony Inalegwu Godwin was named Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission.

The President appointed Engineer Julius Oloro, a former local government chairman, as the Chief Executive Officer of the National Centre for Agricultural Mechanisation (NCAM) in Kwara State. He replaces Dr A.R. Kamal, who died in January.

For the Fiscal Responsibility Commission, President Tinubu constituted a new board with Dr Abdullahi Maikano Saidu as chairman.

Members of the board include Mohammed Asmau, Mohammed Aliyu Makama, Dr Suleiman Gidado, Louis O. Ndukwe, Amaechi Ugwele and Olaniyi Idowu Onikola.

The President also appointed Shuni Muhammad Dahiru as Executive Secretary of the National Commission for Mass Literacy, Adult and Non-Formal Education, replacing Professor Shu’aibu Shehu Aliyu, who was reassigned to the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) in April.

To fill the vacancy created after the resignation of Mathias Byuan, the former Executive Director of Finance at the Federal Housing Authority (FHA), President Tinubu appointed Gisaor Vincent Iorja.

Iorja, an economist, legal scholar and academic, currently serves as Secretary of the Benue State Independent Electoral Commission (BSIEC).

The Presidency said the appointments were part of efforts to strengthen leadership across government institutions and improve the effectiveness of federal agencies in delivering on their mandates.

The announcement adds to a series of appointments by the Tinubu administration aimed at repositioning key government bodies and bringing new leadership into strategic sectors of the economy and public administration.
