
‘Supergirl’ Earns N47m, ‘Toy Story 5’ Grosses N17m at West African Box Office

Hollywood releases 'Supergirl' and 'Toy Story 5' have posted strong performances at the West African box office, highlighting sustained cinema demand for international blockbuster films across the region.
Film distributor FilmOne Entertainment announced that 'Supergirl' grossed N47 million during its opening weekend, making it the highest-grossing film in West Africa over the weekend.
The distributor also disclosed that the superhero movie recorded the second-highest opening weekend for a female superhero film of all time in the region.
"Supergirl delivers a super landing on its opening weekend at the box office, opening with N47 million and making it the number one film of the weekend. It is also the second highest grossing opening weekend for a female superhero film of all time," FilmOne said in a post on its official Instagram page.
Meanwhile, 'Toy Story 5' continued its successful run in cinemas, earning an additional N17 million at the West African box office.
FilmOne thanked moviegoers across the region for their continued support of the latest instalment of the popular animated franchise.
"Toys are back. The battle between toys and tech stays strong with N17 million at the box office. Thank you West Africa for showing up," the company said.
The latest box office figures underscore the continued popularity of major Hollywood releases in West Africa, where superhero films and family-friendly animated features remain among the strongest performers in cinemas.
