Security Forces Kill Four Bandits, Rescue Two Kidnap Victims in Kwara

Security forces have reportedly killed four suspected bandits and rescued two kidnap victims following an attack on Aboki community in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State.

The incident occurred on Tuesday night when suspected bandits reportedly invaded the community and opened fire, killing one resident and abducting two others.

Sources said the attackers, numbering about five and armed with firearms, stormed the community in an apparent attempt to kidnap residents.

One of the victims, identified as Alhaji Tukur, was reportedly among those abducted during the attack.

Following the incident, security forces were said to have swiftly mobilised and launched an operation to pursue the attackers and rescue the victims.

During the ensuing operation, four of the suspected bandits were reportedly neutralised, while another escaped with gunshot injuries.

The security forces subsequently rescued Tukur and the other abducted victim, with both reportedly freed without injuries.

The operation comes amid intensified efforts by security agencies and the Kwara State Government to curb kidnapping and banditry in communities across the state.

The security response also follows the approval of a new army battalion for Omu-Aran, a strategic move expected to strengthen military operations and improve the fight against terrorism, banditry and other violent crimes in the region.

Authorities have continued to intensify security operations across vulnerable communities as part of broader efforts to dismantle criminal networks, rescue abducted persons and prevent further attacks.
