At least ten people have been killed and dozens injured after Russia launched one of its most extensive aerial assaults on Ukraine in recent months, targeting several cities with missiles and drones overnight.
Ukrainian authorities said six people were killed in the central city of Dnipro, while four others died in the capital Kyiv, where emergency crews continued rescue operations amid fears that additional victims may be trapped beneath collapsed structures.
Air raid sirens sounded across large parts of Ukraine as waves of missile and drone attacks struck residential neighbourhoods, commercial facilities and critical infrastructure.
Officials reported that several children were among those injured.
Residents in Kyiv described hearing continuous explosions throughout the night as air defence systems attempted to intercept incoming missiles and drones.

The city’s mayor, Vitali Klitschko, said fires broke out in multiple locations, including apartment buildings, homes, a construction site and areas near a petrol station.
Authorities also reported electricity disruptions in parts of the capital.
The head of Kyiv’s Military Administration, Tymur Tkachenko, said the attacks involved ballistic missiles, warning residents to remain in shelters as rescue efforts continued.
Elsewhere, drone and missile strikes injured several people in Kharkiv, while an industrial facility in Zaporizhzhia was also reportedly hit.
The latest attacks came days after Moscow warned of “systematic strikes” against Ukraine following accusations that Kyiv had attacked a student dormitory in Russian-controlled territory.
Russia had previously threatened to target military and government-related facilities in Kyiv as tensions escalated between both countries.
Ahead of the attacks, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky warned citizens to remain alert following intelligence reports suggesting that Russia was preparing a major offensive.
“Intelligence warnings regarding Russian strikes remain in effect. A massive strike is possible,” Zelensky said in a televised address.
Meanwhile, Russian authorities reported a separate drone attack on the Ilsky Oil Refinery in the Krasnodar region, though no casualties were recorded.
The renewed bombardment underscores the continuing intensity of the war, with both sides exchanging long-range missile and drone attacks despite repeated international calls for de-escalation.

As rescue operations continue, Ukrainian officials have appealed to allies for additional military support to strengthen air defence capabilities and protect civilian populations from future attacks.
