Oyo APC Unveils Alli as 2027 Governorship Candidate, Moves to Reconcile Aggrieved Aspirants

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State has unveiled Senator Sharafadeen Alli as its governorship candidate for the 2027 election and intensified efforts to reconcile aggrieved members as part of moves to strengthen party unity ahead of the polls.

The party also presented Adesoji Adedeji as Alli's running mate during a ceremony in Ibadan attended by party leaders, stakeholders, candidates and supporters.

Speaking at the event, the Oyo APC Chairman, Moses Adeyemo, said the party could not afford internal divisions if it hoped to reclaim power in the state after eight years in opposition.

He urged members with grievances arising from the party's primary election to embrace reconciliation and work together for the party's success in the 2027 general election.

According to Adeyemo, unity, discipline and grassroots mobilisation remain critical to the APC's electoral fortunes, calling on members to place the party's collective interest above personal ambitions.

He also appealed to Oyo residents and APC supporters to vote for Tinubu and all APC candidates in the forthcoming general election, saying the administration's Renewed Hope Agenda has inspired confidence through its economic reforms and development initiatives.

The event featured the presentation of an Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) nomination certificate to Alli by the APC Deputy National Auditor, Hon. Gbenga Olayemi.

In his acceptance speech, Alli described his emergence as a collective victory for the party and thanked the APC leadership and members across Oyo State for their support during the party's governorship primary.

He also commended the APC National Working Committee, security agencies, women, youths, media practitioners and members of the National Assembly for their roles in ensuring what he described as a peaceful, credible and transparent primary election.

Alli appreciated Tinubu for his leadership and pledged to provide purposeful and people-centred governance if elected, with a focus on agriculture, education, healthcare, infrastructure, youth empowerment, economic development, accountability and improved welfare.

Extending an olive branch to fellow aspirants and other aggrieved party members, the APC governorship candidate called for forgiveness, reconciliation and collective commitment to reposition the party ahead of the 2027 election.

The ceremony was attended by several party leaders, including senators Ayoade Adeseun, Olufemi Lanlehin, Hosea Agboola and Yunus Akintunde, as well as other APC stakeholders and candidates.
