Nigerian-American actress and television host Osas Ighodaro has secured a lead role in Imported Bahu, a new Bollywood-Nollywood comedy-drama series that is set to premiere next month.
The actress will star alongside Indian actor and model Rajniesh Duggall in the project, which centres on love, family secrets and a cross-cultural romance that promises to blend elements of both African and Indian storytelling traditions.
The announcement was made on Monday by producer Hamisha Daryani Ahuja, who shared details of the project on social media.
According to Ahuja, Imported Bahu is the first vertical micro-drama series from her production company and will premiere on July 2, 2026, via LebaraPlay, which is described as Africa's first telecoms-owned micro-drama streaming platform.
Announcing the project, Ahuja described the series as a story of love, family dynamics and unexpected twists.
“For months, we’ve been keeping a secret. Today, we’re finally sharing it. Introducing Imported Bahu, our first vertical micro-drama series. A story of love, family, secrets and one Imported Bahu who turns everything upside down,” she wrote.
The series represents another major collaboration between Nollywood and Bollywood, industries that have increasingly explored partnerships aimed at reaching wider international audiences.
Ahuja is widely recognised for pioneering cross-cultural productions, having previously produced the popular films Namaste Wahala and Postcards, both of which combined Nigerian and Indian creative influences.
For Ighodaro, the role adds another international project to a career that has seen her establish herself as one of Nollywood’s most recognisable actresses, television personalities and beauty queens.
The release of Imported Bahu is expected to draw interest from audiences across Africa, India and the global diaspora, further strengthening entertainment ties between Nollywood and Bollywood.
