Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has strongly condemned the kidnapping incident reported at the Vegetable Market along Airport Road in Benin City, describing the attack as unacceptable and a direct assault on innocent residents.

The governor, in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Dr. Patrick Akhere Ebojele, directed the Commissioner of Police in Edo State to immediately commence a swift and coordinated investigation aimed at securing the safe rescue of the victims and apprehending those responsible.

Governor Okpebholo stressed that his administration would not tolerate any act capable of threatening public safety, undermining security or disrupting the peace and stability of the state.

According to him, the government remains fully committed to protecting lives and property and will continue to support security agencies in their efforts to combat criminal activities across Edo State.

The governor urged residents of Benin City and other parts of the state to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious movements and activities to the nearest police station or relevant security agency.

He noted that timely and credible information from members of the public would greatly assist ongoing security operations and improve response efforts.

Reaffirming his administration’s resolve to tackle insecurity, Okpebholo assured residents that those behind the kidnapping would be tracked down and made to face the full weight of the law.

The governor also called for calm while security agencies intensify efforts to secure the release of the victims and restore confidence among residents.
