BUA Group has dismissed reports alleging that its Chairman, Abdul Samad Rabiu, submitted a bid to acquire a 70 per cent stake in Kano Pillars F.C, describing the claims as false and inaccurate.

In a statement released on Monday, the conglomerate said neither the company nor its chairman had made any proposal to acquire shares in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) club.

"Our attention has been drawn to an online publication suggesting that BUA Group and its Chairman, Abdul Samad Rabiu, have submitted a bid to acquire a 70 per cent stake in Kano Pillars Football Club," the statement read.

The company urged the public and media organisations to disregard the reports and rely only on information issued through its official communication channels.

The clarification followed widespread speculation that Rabiu, one of Africa's leading industrialists, had offered approximately $1.1 million to acquire a controlling stake in the four-time Nigerian champions.

The reports further claimed that the proposed arrangement would allow the Kano State Government to retain a minority shareholding while transferring the club's operational control to BUA Group.

The speculation generated significant interest among football supporters and stakeholders, particularly as calls continue to grow for increased private-sector investment in Nigerian club football.

However, BUA's statement effectively dismissed the reported takeover bid, stating unequivocally that no such proposal exists.

Founded in 1988 by Abdul Samad Rabiu, BUA Group is one of Africa's leading conglomerates with investments across cement manufacturing, mining, food processing, infrastructure, construction and real estate.

As of the time of filing this report, neither the Kano State Government nor Kano Pillars had issued an official statement regarding the takeover speculation before BUA publicly denied the reports.
