The Director-General of the National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC), Otunba Oluwemimo Osanipin, has met with the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Taiwo Oyedele, to strengthen collaboration on fiscal policies aimed at accelerating the growth of Nigeria’s automotive industry and electric vehicle (EV) ecosystem.

The meeting, held on Tuesday at the Ministry of Finance headquarters in Abuja, focused on the fiscal incentives and strategic policy support required to drive sustainable industrial growth, promote green mobility and deepen local automotive manufacturing.

According to NADDC, discussions centred on measures that would encourage investment across the automotive value chain, including the development of local components, innovation and technology transfer.

Osanipin reaffirmed the Council’s commitment to working closely with the Ministry of Finance and other relevant stakeholders to create an enabling environment that supports innovation, technical excellence and sustainable growth in Nigeria’s automotive sector.

He noted that stronger collaboration between both institutions would help unlock the industry’s full potential and improve Nigeria’s competitiveness in the global automotive market.

The NADDC Director-General stressed that well-designed fiscal incentives and effective implementation of supportive policies would stimulate investment, create employment opportunities, reduce dependence on vehicle imports and position Nigeria as a leading automotive manufacturing hub in West Africa.

The engagement forms part of ongoing efforts by the Council to advance Nigeria’s automotive development agenda, with increasing emphasis on electric vehicles, green transportation and local industrial capacity.
