The National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC) has commenced the South-West phase of its nationwide sensitisation campaign on the NADDC Dealership Registration Portal, reaffirming its commitment to using digital innovation to strengthen regulation and accelerate the growth of Nigeria’s automotive industry.

The workshop, held on Thursday, July 23, 2026, at the Radisson Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos, brought together key stakeholders in the automotive dealership sector to introduce the portal and demonstrate its role in transforming dealership operations across the country.

Speaking at the event, the Director-General of NADDC, Oluwemimo Osanipin, described the registration portal as a major milestone in implementing the National Automotive Industry Development Plan (NAIDP 2023–2033).

According to him, the platform is designed to formalise dealership operations through a centralised national database, improve market monitoring and vehicle verification, strengthen regulatory compliance and enhance collaboration between dealers, manufacturers and government agencies.

Osanipin explained that the portal would also improve access to financing opportunities, promote transparency across the automotive value chain and provide reliable industry data to support evidence-based policymaking.

He urged dealers to view the initiative as a business opportunity rather than a regulatory obligation, noting that registration would improve the ease of doing business, attract investment, strengthen industry participation in policy development and position Nigeria’s automotive sector for greater global competitiveness.

The NADDC Director-General encouraged participants to complete their registration on the platform and take full advantage of the technical sessions organised as part of the sensitisation programme before formally declaring the South-West workshop open.

In his goodwill message, the Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Industry, Hon. Dr. Enitan Dolapo Badru, represented by the Committee Clerk, Barr. (Dr.) Usman Ibrahim, commended NADDC for introducing the digital platform.

He said the initiative would strengthen industry planning, improve policy implementation and regulatory oversight, enhance data collection and support the Federal Government’s industrialisation, job creation and economic diversification agenda.

The lawmaker also reaffirmed the National Assembly’s commitment to supporting initiatives that formalise dealership operations and boost investor confidence in Nigeria’s automotive industry.

Also speaking, the National President of the Association of Motor Dealers of Nigeria (AMDON), Prince Ajibola Adedoyin, welcomed the initiative, describing it as a significant step toward organising the dealership sector.

He said the portal would improve the credibility of genuine dealers, strengthen consumer confidence and expand access to government interventions and financing opportunities.

Adedoyin pledged AMDON’s support for the programme, assuring NADDC that the association would mobilise its members nationwide to register on the platform.
