The National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB) has extended the registration deadline for the 2026 National Common Entrance Examination into technical colleges across the country.

The board also announced that the examination date has been shifted from June 6 to June 13, 2026.

The development was disclosed in a statement issued in Benin City by NABTEB’s Assistant Director of Media and Protocol, Uchechukwu Olisah. According to the statement, the approval for the extension was granted by the Registrar and Chief Executive Officer of NABTEB, Dr Aminu Mohammed.

The decision was communicated through an internal memorandum signed by the Director of Examinations Administration, Ms Chigoziem Metu. “With this extension, the registration for the National Common Entrance Examination will close on Sunday, May 31, while the examination earlier scheduled for Saturday, June 6, will now hold on Saturday, June 13,” the statement read.

NABTEB explained that the adjustment followed several requests from prospective candidates who sought additional time to complete their registration processes. The board urged candidates and parents to take advantage of the extension period to conclude all registration requirements before the new deadline.

The registrar also encouraged students with entrepreneurial interests and candidates seeking admission into technical colleges and higher institutions to participate in NABTEB examinations. The National Common Entrance Examination is conducted annually for admission into technical colleges nationwide as part of efforts to strengthen technical and vocational education in Nigeria.

Education stakeholders have continued to advocate increased enrollment in technical education programmes to address unemployment, improve skills acquisition and support industrial development.
