The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has introduced a new toll-free emergency short code 3367, as part of efforts to improve traffic management, strengthen emergency response and make it easier for residents to report road incidents across the state.

The agency said the initiative marks a major upgrade from its previous long-service hotline, providing motorists and residents with a faster, more accessible and technology-driven communication platform.

Announcing the development in a statement on Sunday, LASTMA General Manager, Olalekan Bakare-Oki, said the 3367 short code is available free of charge to subscribers on MTN, Glo and Etisalat (T2) networks.

According to him, the platform enables road users to quickly report emergencies including vehicle breakdowns, road traffic crashes, disabled trucks, stranded tankers, traffic obstructions and other incidents requiring immediate intervention.

Bakare-Oki added that the hotline is also designed to strengthen transparency and accountability within the agency by allowing members of the public to report the conduct and professionalism of LASTMA personnel while on duty.

"The 3367 hotline provides residents with a direct, convenient and cost-free channel through which incidents requiring immediate intervention can be promptly reported," he said.

To ensure wider accessibility, he explained that callers can communicate with operators in English, Yoruba or Pidgin English, a move aimed at eliminating language barriers and encouraging greater public participation.

He described the initiative as another milestone in LASTMA's drive to build a more responsive, technology-enabled and citizen-focused traffic management system capable of meeting the demands of one of Africa's fastest-growing megacities.

According to the agency, the new platform reflects its commitment to deploying digital solutions that enhance road safety, improve traffic flow and strengthen collaboration between traffic managers and the motoring public.

Bakare-Oki assured residents that every report received through the hotline would be handled professionally, treated confidentially and forwarded to the appropriate operational teams for immediate action.

He urged Lagos residents to make effective use of the 3367 short code, describing it as an important tool for improving road safety, promoting accountability and supporting efficient traffic management across the state.
