Kuwait Court Jails Two Nigerians Seven Years for Money Exchange Robbery

A court in Kuwait has sentenced two unnamed Nigerians to seven years in prison each for their involvement in an armed robbery at a money exchange office in Mahboula, in the country's southern district.

The verdict was delivered on Monday by a court presided over by Counsellor Nasr Salem Al-Haid, following the conclusion of proceedings arising from the robbery.

According to court documents filed by the public prosecution, the two men were convicted of stealing cash and other valuables during the attack on the exchange office.

The robbery, which occurred in January last year, triggered an investigation by Kuwait's General Department of Criminal Investigation.

The suspects were subsequently arrested in Ahmadi Governorate after investigators traced them in connection with the incident.

Evidence presented during the investigation reportedly included video footage from the scene of the robbery.

The footage showed one of the suspects, dressed in a hooded sweatshirt, stepping out of a white vehicle before entering the money exchange office.

He was reportedly captured on camera pointing a firearm at employees inside the premises during the operation.

The prosecution's case centred on the suspects' alleged involvement in the armed robbery and the theft of cash and other valuables from the exchange office.

Following the court's findings, both Nigerian nationals were convicted and sentenced to seven years' imprisonment.

The case adds to concerns over criminal activities involving foreign nationals in Kuwait, where authorities have continued to intensify investigations into serious offences and enforce the country's criminal laws.
