Inside Taylor Swift's Rumoured New York Wedding Plans
By OUR REPORTER · 01/07/2026 2:58 PM · 4 min read
Speculation surrounding the long-rumoured wedding of global pop superstar Taylor Swift and Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce has intensified after reports of a major private event planned around Madison Square Garden (MSG) in New York City over the US Independence Day weekend.
Although neither Swift nor Kelce has confirmed they are getting married, a combination of city permits, media reports, hotel bookings and activity around the iconic venue has sparked widespread excitement among fans.
Here's what is known and what remains speculation.
The biggest clue emerged after New York City officials confirmed that an application had been submitted to temporarily close roads around Madison Square Garden between July 2 and July 4.
The New York Times first reported that permits had been requested for a major private event, although the newspaper stopped short of identifying it as the couple's wedding.
City officials have confirmed only that the permit exists, not the purpose of the event.

Meanwhile, CBS News reported that the couple are planning a rehearsal dinner for around 100 guests at the arena's Infosys Theater, followed by a larger celebration capable of hosting as many as 1,000 people.
The BBC has not independently verified those reports.
The rumoured celebrations have drawn increased attention to Madison Square Garden in recent days.
Large trucks have been seen arriving at the venue carrying stage equipment, lighting rigs and other event materials.
Photographs from the scene show workers unloading equipment, including a large crate labelled "40-inch mirror ball", while other items remained covered in black protective wrapping.
A red carpet was also briefly rolled out on the venue's entrance before being removed.
The preparations have only added to speculation that the venue is being transformed for a high-profile private event.
Could it all be a decoy?
Despite the mounting clues, many fans believe the activity could be an elaborate diversion.
Swift has long been known for keeping major life events tightly guarded, leading some to speculate that the Madison Square Garden event could simply be designed to distract public attention while a private wedding takes place elsewhere.
No official confirmation has linked the venue to a wedding.
Even New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani has added to the speculation.
While discussing preparations for the Independence Day weekend, he jokingly referenced "Taylor Swift's wedding", noting that New York regularly hosts major events.
Later, during another media briefing, he remarked:
"If you happen to be getting married at MSG, you will be staying inside and staying cool."
The mayor did not clarify whether he was speaking based on confirmed information or simply referencing widespread media speculation.
Other possible locations
Before the New York rumours gained momentum, fans had speculated that the couple could marry elsewhere.
Among the suggested locations are:
Swift's coastal estate in Rhode Island
Kansas City, where Kelce lives and plays
Swift's home state of Pennsylvania
Kelce's home state of Ohio
Reports earlier this year claiming Swift had attempted to reserve a Rhode Island venue were later denied by the venue itself.
Guest list remains a mystery
Neither Swift nor Kelce has revealed who might attend any potential wedding.
However, several celebrities and NFL figures have hinted they expect to attend celebrations, including:
George Kittle
Benson Boone
Suki Waterhouse
Longtime friends Selena Gomez, Jack Antonoff and Abigail Anderson Berard are widely expected to be among the guests if the event goes ahead.
Speculation has also surrounded whether actress Blake Lively and model Karlie Kloss would receive invitations.
Despite days of intense speculation, Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce have not publicly commented on the reports.
Representatives for both have also declined to confirm whether a wedding or celebration is planned.
Until the couple choose to speak or appear publicly as newlyweds the reports remain unconfirmed.
For now, fans around the world are watching New York closely, waiting to see whether one of the most anticipated celebrity weddings in recent years finally becomes reality.
