The Imo State Police Command has deployed a surveillance drone to enhance intelligence gathering and strengthen ongoing operations aimed at identifying, tracking and apprehending criminal elements across the state.
The initiative, announced by the Commissioner of Police, CP Audu Garba Bosso, forms part of the command's strategy to leverage technology in combating crime and improving public safety.

According to the command, the drone will support security operations being carried out jointly with operatives of the Imo State Security Organisation (ISSO), particularly in areas identified as criminal flashpoints.
The surveillance equipment was donated by a public-spirited resident of Ihiagwa Community in Owerri West Local Government Area, a gesture the police described as a demonstration of the importance of community participation in strengthening security.
The command said the deployment of the drone would improve aerial surveillance, intelligence collection and operational planning, enabling security operatives to detect and respond more effectively to criminal activities.

Police further reiterated that the partnership between security agencies and residents remains crucial to sustaining the fight against crime across the state.
"There will be no hiding place for criminals in Imo State," the command declared, assuring residents of its continued commitment to protecting lives and property through intelligence-driven policing and the deployment of modern security technology.
