Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State, approved the immediate suspension of the Managing Director of the Imo State Housing Corporation (IMSHC), Barr. Raymond Ucheoma, less than one year after his appointment to the position.

The suspension, which took effect on June 2, 2026, was conveyed through a letter issued by the Office of the Secretary to the State Government.

According to the directive, Ucheoma was ordered to immediately relinquish all official responsibilities and hand over government property in his possession to the Secretary of the Corporation or the most senior officer available before the close of work on Tuesday.

The government did not disclose reasons for the suspension.

Ucheoma, a legal practitioner and former Head of Service of Imo State, was appointed Managing Director of the corporation in May 2025.

At the time of his appointment, the state government expressed confidence in his administrative experience and capacity to reposition the housing agency in line with the administration’s development agenda.

The appointment letter signed by the Office of the Secretary to the State Government had stated that Governor Uzodimma expected the new Managing Director to deploy his wealth of experience toward revitalising the corporation.

“His Excellency has enjoined the new Managing Director to bring his wealth of experience to bear in the performance of his new job,” the appointment letter had stated.

The Governor had also expressed optimism that the corporation would align its operations and service delivery with the objectives of his administration’s development programme.

The suspension marks the latest leadership change within one of the state’s strategic agencies responsible for housing development and property management.

Government officials have yet to announce an acting replacement or provide details on the duration of the suspension.
