Former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has dismissed reports that he has defected to the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), insisting that he remains a loyal member of the ruling party.
Reacting to posters circulating on social media claiming he had dumped the APC, the former Kano State governor described the reports as false, mischievous and politically motivated.
Ganduje said he was not a politician who moves from one party to another for personal ambition or political convenience.
"I am not a nomadic politician or a vulture flying from one tree to another," he declared, reaffirming his commitment to the APC.
The clarification was contained in a statement issued on Friday by his former Commissioner for Information and Chief of Staff, Comrade Muhammad Garba.
According to the statement, the viral posters were part of a calculated misinformation campaign aimed at misleading the public, creating confusion among APC supporters and fuelling unnecessary political speculation.
Garba said Ganduje had remained consistent in his political convictions and had never contemplated leaving the party he once led as National Chairman.
He added that claims linking the former governor with the NDC were not only false but also devoid of political and logical basis.
The statement maintained that the APC remains Nigeria's largest political party and continues to consolidate its position under the leadership of President Bola Tinubu.
It further described the circulation of the posters as the handiwork of desperate political actors seeking to tarnish Ganduje's reputation and create unnecessary anxiety within the ruling party.
Ganduje also disclosed that those allegedly responsible for producing and circulating the fake posters had been identified.
He warned that unless the individuals immediately withdraw the materials and cease further dissemination, legal action would be taken against them.
The former APC chairman urged party members, supporters and the general public to disregard the posters, insisting that they do not reflect his political position or intentions.
He reaffirmed his commitment to working with President Tinubu and the leadership of the APC to consolidate the gains of the Renewed Hope Agenda and strengthen the party ahead of future political contests.
The statement also advised the public to rely only on official communications from Ganduje and authorised organs of the APC regarding his political activities.
