The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate for the 2027 election in Abia State, Dr. Kelechi Anosike, has declared that the welfare of the people will be the defining priority of his administration if elected, describing himself as "a welfareist" committed to putting citizens first.

Anosike made the declaration during a media parley with journalists in Umuahia, where he outlined the philosophy driving his bid for the Abia Government House.

Responding to a question on what distinguishes him from other contenders in the 2027 governorship race, the PDP candidate said his approach to governance is rooted in prioritising the well-being of the people above every other consideration.

"I am a welfareist. People first," Anosike said.

He explained that his vision for Abia is centred on improving the quality of life of residents through policies that strengthen workers welfare, create employment opportunities, expand access to quality healthcare and education and provide social protection for vulnerable citizens.

According to him, governance should be measured by its impact on the lives of ordinary people, adding that his administration would focus on delivering programmes that directly improve living standards across the state.

Anosike also reaffirmed his campaign slogan, "Anosike Ga Eme Karia," expressing confidence that he possesses the capacity and vision to provide better leadership and accelerate development in Abia State.

The PDP governorship candidate said his campaign would continue to engage residents across the state while presenting what he described as a people-centred agenda ahead of the 2027 general election.
