Minister of Works David Umahi has expressed confidence that President Bola Tinubu will continue to lead Nigeria through 2031, saying divine guidance would help the administration overcome the country's challenges and advance national development.
Umahi spoke on Thursday in Lagos while inspecting ongoing bridge projects, including the planned reconstruction of Carter Bridge. The minister appealed to Nigerians to remain patient with the administration, particularly as it addresses security concerns and other national challenges.
“The same God that brought him is going to be there to solve all the problems,” Umahi said.
According to the minister, every government faces periods of difficulty, but leadership requires confronting those challenges directly.
“There is no leader who will not want his reign to be very peaceful, but if you bring crisis, the leader is not going to run away. He is going to face it and that is what we are doing,” he said.
Umahi said he was confident that Tinubu's administration would overcome security challenges regardless of their origin.
“Whether the heightened security challenge is orchestrated politically or not, God will give Tinubu the grace to tackle it and all other challenges of the country,” he said.
The minister also expressed optimism that the administration would complete key infrastructure projects initiated under its watch.
“Your hands that have started this, will complete it.” He added; “If we don't have the confidence that God is continuing to bless Tinubu, we will not be very bold to say this.”
Umahi further stated that he believes God will continue to use Tinubu's presidency to move the country forward.
“God will use President Bola Tinubu as Nigeria's President up to 2031 to advance the country,” he said.
The minister made the remarks while providing updates on federal bridge projects in Lagos, including plans to commence reconstruction work on Carter Bridge from Monday. According to Umahi, the reconstruction project is expected to be completed within three years.
