The Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) has distributed a total of ₦2.257 trillion to the Federal Government, state governments and the 774 local government councils as revenue allocation for April 2026.
The allocation was announced in a communique issued after the May 2026 FAAC meeting held in Abuja and made public by the Director of Press and Public Relations in the Office of the Auditor-General of the Federation, Bawa Mokwa.
According to the communique, the distributable revenue comprised ₦1.260 trillion in statutory revenue, ₦747.088 billion from Value Added Tax (VAT) and an augmentation of ₦250 billion.
The total gross revenue available for April stood at ₦3.184 trillion.
However, deductions amounting to ₦113.756 billion were made for cost of collection, while ₦813.839 billion was recorded as transfers, refunds and savings.
From the total distributable amount of ₦2.257 trillion, the Federal Government received ₦787.351 billion, state governments received ₦772.360 billion, while local government councils got ₦540.152 billion.
An additional ₦157.254 billion representing 13 per cent derivation revenue from mineral resources was distributed to eligible oil-producing states.
A breakdown of the statutory revenue allocation showed that the Federal Government received ₦580.942 billion, states received ₦294.661 billion, while local governments got ₦227.172 billion.
From the ₦747.088 billion VAT revenue, the Federal Government received ₦74.709 billion, states received ₦410.898 billion and local governments received ₦261.481 billion.
The ₦250 billion augmentation fund was shared with the Federal Government receiving ₦131.700 billion, states receiving ₦66.800 billion and local governments receiving ₦51.500 billion.
The communique further revealed that gross statutory revenue rose significantly to ₦2.378 trillion in April, representing an increase of ₦678.224 billion over the ₦1.699 trillion recorded in March.
Similarly, gross VAT revenue increased to ₦806.617 billion from ₦664.425 billion in the previous month, reflecting a rise of ₦142.192 billion.
FAAC also reported notable increases in collections from Companies Income Tax (CIT), Capital Gains Tax (CGT), Stamp Duties, Import Duties, Oil and Gas Royalties and VAT.
However, Petroleum Profit Tax (PPT) and Hydrocarbon Tax (HT) recorded considerable declines during the period, while Excise Duty and CET Levies witnessed marginal decreases.
The latest allocation reflects continued improvements in non-oil revenue generation and stronger tax collections despite prevailing economic challenges.
