The African Union Commission (AUC) and the Pan-African AU Agenda 2063 Diplomatic Mission have pledged to strengthen collaboration on peacebuilding, digital innovation and sustainable development as part of efforts to accelerate Africa’s transformation agenda.

The commitment was made during a strategic working visit by a delegation from the AUC, led by Orit Ibrahim, to the mission’s headquarters in Abuja.

Speaking during the engagement, Ibrahim said the visit was aimed at deepening institutional cooperation and advancing key initiatives designed to promote peace, security, economic integration and sustainable development across Africa.

She explained that discussions centred on several flagship projects, including the Community Peace Monitoring (CPM) Application, a digital platform developed to support conflict prevention, early warning systems, community-based intelligence gathering and peacebuilding efforts across the continent.

According to her, the initiative aligns with the African Union’s flagship programme, Silencing the Guns in Africa, which seeks to address conflict and insecurity as a prerequisite for sustainable growth and development.

Ibrahim stressed that peace remains the foundation upon which the aspirations of Agenda 2063 can be achieved, noting that Africa’s economic prosperity and stability depend heavily on effective conflict prevention mechanisms and sustained dialogue among communities.

She commended the Pan-African AU Agenda 2063 Diplomatic Mission for embracing technology-driven solutions and community engagement strategies to tackle some of the continent’s most pressing challenges.

The AUC official also praised the mission’s commitment to innovation, describing its projects as practical interventions capable of advancing Africa’s development objectives.

In his remarks, the Global President of the Pan-African AU Agenda 2063 Diplomatic Mission, Stephen Ben-Joel, presented the organisation’s strategic programmes and ongoing interventions aimed at supporting continental development.

Among the initiatives showcased was the Pan-African Continental Super Marketplace (PAC-SM), a technology-enabled platform designed to facilitate seamless intra-African trade and strengthen implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

Ben-Joel explained that the digital marketplace is intended to connect businesses, buyers and sellers across Africa, improve market access for entrepreneurs and support economic integration among member states.

He also highlighted plans for a Pan-African Tourism Application, a digital platform expected to promote Africa’s cultural heritage, tourism destinations and investment opportunities while encouraging stronger people-to-people connections across the continent.

According to him, the initiative would help position Africa as a competitive global tourism destination while creating new opportunities for economic growth.

The mission’s president further briefed the delegation on its Limestone Block Technology Project, an innovative housing solution designed to provide affordable, durable and environmentally sustainable homes.

He noted that the project could play a significant role in addressing housing deficits across Africa while stimulating local industrial development and creating employment opportunities.

Ben-Joel also outlined progress on the mission’s broader housing development programme and its Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) initiatives, including recently commissioned community water schemes aimed at improving access to clean and safe water for underserved populations.

He said the projects align with both the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the long-term aspirations of Agenda 2063.

At the end of the meeting, both organisations agreed to expand collaboration in critical areas including peacebuilding, economic integration, digital transformation, infrastructure development, youth empowerment and environmental sustainability.

They reaffirmed their shared commitment to advancing the African Union’s vision of a peaceful, prosperous and integrated continent driven by its citizens and positioned as a dynamic force on the global stage.
