60-Year-Old Man Dies at Jigawa Hotel, Police Recover Suspected Enhancement Drug

The Jigawa State Police Command has launched an investigation into the death of a 60-year-old man who reportedly suffered a medical emergency at a hotel in Dutse while in the company of a 20-year-old woman.

The incident occurred on Tuesday and was disclosed on Wednesday by the command’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Lawan Shiisu Adam.

According to the police, the deceased had checked into the hotel with the woman when he suddenly developed breathing difficulties shortly after requesting a meal.

Following a distress call, officers attached to the Yalwawa Police Division responded and rushed the man to the General Hospital, Dutse, where medical personnel reportedly certified him dead.

The police subsequently secured the hotel room and commenced investigations into the circumstances surrounding the death.

Investigators recovered food items, beverages, a suspected sexual enhancement substance and other personal effects from the scene. The items have been preserved for forensic examination as authorities work to establish what may have led to the man’s death.

Shiisu said the command followed the necessary investigative procedures to preserve potential evidence. He added that the deceased’s body was later released to his family for burial following medical certification and the completion of official formalities.

The 20-year-old woman who was with the deceased at the time of the incident is also cooperating with investigators and has provided information to assist the police in reconstructing the events leading to the man’s death.

The Commissioner of Police assured the public that the investigation would be conducted thoroughly, professionally and impartially.

The command also urged members of the public to avoid speculation and the circulation of unverified information that could prejudice the ongoing investigation.

“The Command remains committed to uncovering the facts surrounding the incident, and further information will be made available as the investigation progresses,” Shiisu stated.

The police have not disclosed the cause of death, stressing that the investigation and forensic examination would help determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
