2027: Kogi Stakeholders Promise Tinubu Massive Support as Renewed Hope Team Inspects Projects

Kogi State Government officials and key political stakeholders have expressed confidence that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) will secure strong electoral support in the state in the 2027 general elections.

The assurance was given as the Renewed Hope Ambassadors and the Presidential Media Team concluded the third day of their inspection tour of federal and state government projects across Kogi State.

The delegation, led by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public Communications, Chief Sunday Dare, visited several project sites across the state, including road networks, healthcare facilities and other infrastructure projects.

Speaking on Monday during the team's visit to Gbede in Yagba West Local Government Area, Kogi State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Fanwo, said residents were pleased with the federal projects being executed in the state and would welcome more interventions.

Fanwo said the projects, alongside the state government's development initiatives, would reinforce the people's support for the Tinubu administration and the APC.

“Therefore, come January 2027, they will show their appreciation at the polls by voting for President Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) at all levels,” he said.

The commissioner attributed the state's support for the President to what he described as the impact of the administration's economic reforms, arguing that the policies had increased the resources available to sub-national governments and enabled them to undertake more development projects.

According to Fanwo, supporting Tinubu in 2027 would be a way for Kogi voters to reciprocate what he described as the President's “laudable reform programmes.”

The remarks came during a tour designed to showcase ongoing infrastructure and development projects being implemented by both the Federal Government and the Kogi State Government.

At Gbede, the delegation inspected a 15-kilometre asphalted internal road network equipped with drainage infrastructure, as well as a newly constructed primary healthcare centre.

The team also inspected work on the Kabba-Egbe-Omuo-Aran-Ilorin Road, which is undergoing reconstruction under the Federal Government.

Speaking after the inspection, Dare said the scale of development projects being undertaken across the country indicated that the administration's Renewed Hope Agenda was beginning to have an impact.

“Based on the development projects embarked upon across the country, the hopes of Nigerians are being renewed,” Dare said.

The team also visited other project locations, including rural road networks in Okene, the International Market in Lokoja and the Federal Teaching Hospital in the Kogi State capital.

The International Market, being constructed on a 16-hectare site, was reported to be about 50 per cent complete, with completion projected within 18 months.

Dare commended the Kogi State Government for what he described as progress in education, healthcare, road infrastructure, security and human capital development.

He said the projects inspected during the tour were consistent with the broad priorities of the Tinubu administration's Renewed Hope Agenda and the President's eight-point agenda.

The presidential aide also praised Governor Usman Ododo's administration for its development initiatives, particularly in infrastructure and grassroots development.

“We have just driven through a 15 Kilometre internal road network in this town. So, the importance of roads, whether internal or federal roads, the development in this state is massive,” Dare said.

He cited the Federal Government's ongoing road construction and rehabilitation programme as part of its broader infrastructure strategy, noting that the administration had prioritised major transport corridors considered critical to economic activity.

Dare specifically referenced the reconstruction of the Kabba-Ilorin Road, which he said had remained abandoned for more than three decades before the Federal Executive Council approved its reconstruction.

He explained that improving strategic road corridors would help strengthen connectivity and facilitate the movement of agricultural produce, industrial goods and other commodities.

“We saw a lot of trucks. We saw two cement factories, that of BUA and Mangal as we were coming. Without good roads it would be almost impossible for us to thrive,” he said.

The Special Adviser also pointed to healthcare interventions as another area where the administration was seeking to expand access to basic services.

He said more than 1,000 primary healthcare centres had been reinvigorated across the country, describing the projects as evidence of the administration's focus on health, education, infrastructure, agriculture, manufacturing and the oil and gas sector.

“We've also seen Primary Health Centres here under the Ministry of Health. Over 1,000 Primary Health Centres have been reinvigorated across this country. So, we can see that the Renewed Hope Agenda of the President is well and alive in health, education, infrastructure, agriculture, manufacturing and oil and gas,” Dare said.

The delegation's visit to Yagba West also provided an opportunity for local officials to highlight development projects in the area.

Welcoming the team to Egbe, the Chairman of Yagba West Local Government, Tosin Olokun, alongside the Commissioner for Environment and Ecological Management, Joseph Oluwasegun, commended Governor Ododo for wha t they described as significant development in the local government.

They also praised the governor for appointing two indigenes of the community as commissioners in the state government.

In Okene, the Commissioner for Works, Barrister Deedat, led the delegation through several inner roads in the town.

The team inspected roads constructed largely with concrete pavement, major bridges and erosion-control projects.

Deedat commended Governor Ododo for his focus on grassroots development and also expressed support for President Tinubu's economic reforms.

He said Kogi State would remain aligned with the President ahead of the 2027 elections, citing what he described as the benefits of the administration's policies and projects to the state.

Also speaking during the tour, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Public Engagement, Fredrick Nwabufo, said the Tinubu administration had prioritised roads and other infrastructure because of their wider economic impact.

According to him, investment in infrastructure has a multiplier effect across different sectors of the economy, particularly by improving transportation, supporting trade and lowering the cost of moving goods and services.

The Kogi tour is part of a broader effort by the Renewed Hope Ambassadors and the Presidential Media Team to highlight projects being executed under the Tinubu administration and state governments across the country.

The political dimension of the visit was also evident, with state officials and APC stakeholders using the opportunity to express their support for President Tinubu's bid for another term in office.

With the 2027 general elections still ahead, the assurances from Kogi officials remain political commitments rather than guaranteed electoral outcomes. The eventual strength of support for the President and the APC will ultimately be determined by voters at the polls.

For now, however, the Kogi State Government and its political allies are positioning the state's ongoing infrastructure and development projects as evidence of the benefits they believe the Tinubu administration's policies have brought to the state and as a basis for continued political support in 2027.
