12-Year-Old Nigerian Actor Wins Bronze at World Performing Arts Championships

A 12-year-old Nigerian actor, Chibuchi David Francis, has brought home a bronze medal after representing Nigeria at the 2026 World Championships of Performing Arts (WCOPA) in Las Vegas, Nevada, United States.

Chibuchi secured the medal in the Acting Category for contestants aged 11 to 12, recording a notable achievement for Team Nigeria at the international performing arts competition.

The 2026 championship was held from July 13 to 21 at the Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino, attracting contestants from more than 80 countries who competed across several creative disciplines.

The competition featured categories including acting, singing, dancing, modelling, music and other forms of performing arts, providing young talents from different parts of the world with an international platform to showcase their abilities.

Chibuchi represented Team Nigeria under the leadership of Ambassador Lovethpatra White Ekufu, National Director of WCOPA Team Nigeria and founder of Street2Fame Nigeria Performing Arts Entertainment (SNPAE).

According to the organisers, the young actor's participation was sponsored by Street2Fame Nigeria Performing Arts Entertainment as part of its broader talent development programme designed to identify gifted Nigerian youths and expose them to opportunities beyond the country's shores.

Reacting to the achievement, Ekufu described Chibuchi's bronze medal as evidence of the depth of creative talent among Nigerian children and young people.

She said the accomplishment demonstrated what could be achieved when talented young Nigerians are given access to structured preparation, mentorship and opportunities to compete internationally.

"The bronze medal won by Chibuchi David Francis proves that Nigerian youths possess world-class talent. When young people are given the opportunity to dream, prepare and compete, they can excel on the global stage," Ekufu said.

The organisation reaffirmed its commitment to identifying and nurturing emerging Nigerian performers through structured training, mentorship and international exposure.

For Chibuchi, the achievement represents an early milestone in what could become a promising career in the creative industry.

At just 12 years old, the young actor has already competed on an international stage alongside performers drawn from dozens of countries, giving him valuable exposure and experience in a highly competitive global environment.

Street2Fame Nigeria Performing Arts Entertainment said its broader vision is to create a structured, nationwide talent development system capable of identifying promising performers at an early age and providing them with a pathway to professional development.

The organisation said the proposed system would include state and zonal championships, national competitions, professional training programmes and continued Nigerian participation in the World Championships of Performing Arts.

It also plans to expand opportunities for young Nigerian performers through international career pathways and continental championships across Africa.

The World Championships of Performing Arts is an annual international talent competition that brings performers together to compete and showcase their abilities across multiple entertainment disciplines.
